Why Take Voice Lessons?

I always used to wonder, before getting into them, why people would take voice lessons. I was involved in just about everything I could be in high school, and I did well at them. I was involved in choir, show choir, theater, and so much more, and I felt like I was learning enough there. And I was learning enough to get by. However, I was also producing a lot of unhealthy sounds and creating a lot of bad habits. I would lose my voice for weeks and would struggle with consistency of sound. I was trying to sing theater songs that were NOT developmentally appropriate and was forcing my sound down my throat in a choral setting. Ultimately, I just was not a good singer.

Coming to college, I started working with my fabulous voice teacher and began to break habits that I wish wouldn't have been there to begin with. I had to relearn how to breathe and talk in healthy ways before I could even focus on singing. If I had taken voice lessons when I was younger, I wouldn't have built those habits and could have, instead, focused on bettering my singing. Voice lessons are an extra cost that I reasonably couldn't consider, but that's why I wanted to create high-quality, low-cost lessons that can allow kiddos to better themselves in a loving setting, with materials that they WANT to sing!
